Guest Post: Review of EVERY DAY by David Levithan

This is my first time to host a blog event, ever. I am really really glad to host such activity since there are so much to share out there.

My very first blog activity is an event in which any blogger/internet buff, bookworm, analyzer, a simple reader or even an ordinary person has the privilege to share thoughts about a book read. I am a girl who happens to have friends who share the same interest in books. In every book that we read, we share ideas and daydream on every fictitious character. And so, a concept of blog guesting came into my very eager mind. Every week, I am introducing new reviewers. It doesn't matter who, or what the person does in his/her life, as long as the passion for books radiates within that person. For two months, this blog will feature book reviewers and critics. They might also give us book recommendations. So watch out! :)

For my first guest, I welcome MS. ALTHEA CAHAYAG with her review of Every Day by David Levithan.

*contains spoilers*

This is Every day by David Levithan. I just finished reading this yesterday? Yes. Yesterday. I was fascinated by its plot. The “Every day a different body. Every day a different life. Every day in love with the same girl.” Yep! I am not into the Every day in love with the same girl thing though I felt that it was it all about. I was able to know it because of a classmate who was having a hard time looking for it. I’m this “internet freak” and decided to help her, though I haven’t told her that I am looking for it. When I succeeded, I messaged her and, surprise! surprise! You have the book you are looking for.
I was the first one to have it but I am the last to read it. Loser!

So, here is/are my thing/s about the book.

   It was slow.

The pacing was a little slow for me. Yes, given the fact that it is a novel, so it can count that the situations can be slow and be detailed but, I wasn’t into it. It’s like, “Okay, so?” That’s my main problem while I was reading it. I understand that it has to be established - that every day, A, the main character, transfers from one body to another. But still, for me, it seems like, it had too many ‘examples’ on establishing it. But the thing with the struggling of mind, body and soul, well yeah, it was good. It was established.

Loopholes

What happen to the souls of the body A takes? Where do they go? Do they just sleep? Like, they stay inside and they are just like sleeping then A’s the one who’s awake? Where? Do they go somewhere? What happens to them?

How can it be done? The process on how the ‘things’ like A, stay in one body FOREVER??? It wasn’t mentioned. It was mentioned that it is possible to happen but how???

Lastly, I know it’s an open-ended story. And that’s one thing with reading materials. They let readers do the next details. The next events. Whatever they want things to be. The author does not give everything. But yeah. What happened to Rhiannon and Alexander (hope I named him right)?

At the end. I want to say that A’s stupid and selfish. He could have a happy ending. They could have a happy ending — A and Rhiannon. But he didn’t do it. Well, partially stupid, partially not. Because it is selfishness, too, to ruin a life for his own sake or happiness. The body he will take over. He was selfish because like what Rhiannon said when A was in Vic’s body. What if Vic and his date has something very important for Vic to do? And A was with Rhiannon. What if because of just a day, everything gets messed up in Vic’s life because of A?

And A’s selfish for saying like, Rhiannon has to be with Alexander — the last body A was in. It seemed like, he was saying that Alexander is a good guy and they should end up together. Yes, spoiler. Did he even ask if Rhiannon wants things to be that way? A hurt Rhiannon. A has hurt itself (let me call A an it since A doesn’t even know if A’s a he or a she). So maybe, I call it quits.
So this is a lame review. And to David Levithan’s fans, please, do not be angry at me. Just expressing.

Imagine Dragons - It's Time

This is currently my favorite song. It's been playing on the background for like forever. HA! I fell in love with Imagine Dragons since Radioactive and now, I can't get enough of them. This is the lyrics of the song. I hope you can feel the way I do right now. :)

So this is what you meant
When you said that you were spent
And now it's time to build from the bottom of the pit
Right to the top
Don't hold back
Packing my bags and giving the academy a rain check

I don't ever wanna let you down
I don't ever wanna leave this town
'Cause after all
This city never sleeps at night

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
That I'm never changing who I am

So this is where you fell
And I am left to sail
The path to heaven runs through miles of clouded hell
Right to the top
Don't look back
Turning the rags and giving the commodities a rain check

I don't ever wanna let you down
I don't ever wanna leave this town
'Cause after all
This city never sleeps at night

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
That I'm never changing who I am

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
That I'm never changing who I am

This road never looked so lonely
This house doesn't burn down slowly
To ashes, to ashes

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
That I'm never changing who I am

It's time to begin, isn't it?
I get a little bit bigger, but then I'll admit
I'm just the same as I was
Now don't you understand
That I'm never changing who I am

THROUGH THE EVER NIGHT by VERONICA ROSSI

It's been months since Aria last saw Perry. Months since Perry was named Blood Lord of the Tides, and Aria was charged with an impossible mission. Now, finally, they are about to be reunited. But their reunion is far from perfect. The Tides don't take kindly to Aria, a former Dweller. And with the worsening Aether storms threatening the tribe's precarious existence, Aria begins to fear that leaving Perry behind might be the only way to save them both.

Threatened by false friends, hidden enemies, and powerful temptations, Aria and Perry wonder, Can their love survive through the ever night?

In this second book in her spellbinding Under the Never Sky trilogy, Veronica Rossi combines fantasy and dystopian elements to create a captivating love story as perilous as it is unforgettable. (Source: Goodreads)

Smexy Books for Your Nights

Fifty Shades of Grey has taken the world by storm. Not in my lifetime that an adult read could make a big break like the trilogy Author E.L James created. In the first week of released, the book has already garnered a huge fanbase all over the pacific. The first, titled Fifty Shades of Grey, was released as an e-book and a print-on-demand paperback in May 2011 by The Writers' Coffee Shop, a virtual publisher based in Australia. The second volume, Fifty Shades Darker, was released in September 2011; and, the third, Fifty Shades Freed, followed in January 2012. The Writers' Coffee Shop had a restricted marketing budget and relied largely on book blogs for early publicity, but sales of the novel were boosted by word-of-mouth recommendation.

The books' perceived demographic readers are mostly moms and young women. Without a doubt, the trilogy opened another door for Literature liberalism. Although the book was first known as fanfic of the international best-seller Twilight Saga, they are worlds apart.

With this literary breakthrough, many erotic novels are continually trying to surpass the incredibly huge sales of Fifty Shades of Grey. As part of the swiftly rising fame of books that features BDSM or erotic novels, readers are looking for more reads other than Fifty Shades trilogy.

My opinion?

I'd like to apologize here right now. As much as I want to make a review of the trilogy, I am currently behind schedule of more important stuff so...

I liked the trilogy but it isn't a piece-of-the-art when it comes to technicalities. I DON'T WANT TO RAMBLE MORE. Since E.L James is really not a seasoned writer, the trilogy gained a lot of critics as much as its fans.

With this, I am recommending HOT READS FOR YOU. GREAT WRITING. GOOD STORY. UNFORGETTABLE CHARACTERS.

1. CROSSFIRE SERIES by Sylvia Day

2. THOUGHTLESS Trilogy by S.C Stephens

3. BEAUTIFUL DISASTER by Jamie McGuire

4. THIS MAN by Jodi Ellen Malpas

5. STRANGERS by Barbara Elsborg

6. ON DUBLIN STREET by Samantha Young

7. THE PROPOSITION by Katie Ashley

8. GABRIEL'S INFERNO Trilogy by Sylvain Reynard

9.  MARRIAGE TO A BILLIONAIRE SERIES by Jennifer Probst

10. FBI/US ATTORNEY Series by Julie James

11. FALLEN TOO FAR by Abbi Glines

12. FADE by Kate Dawes

So, that's the first part of my book recommendation :) I'd like to hear from you! Whatcha think? :)

A Review of Hopeless by Colleen Hoover

"The sky is always beautiful. Even when it's dark or rainy or cloudy, it's still beautiful to look at. It's my favourite thing because I know if I ever get lost or lonely or scared, I just have to look up and it'll be there no matter what...and I know it'll always be beautiful."

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever. (Source:Goodreads.com)

MY THOUGHTS

Heartbreaking. Addictive. Beautifully-written.

I've been thinking about making a review because I am not much of a reviewer. After reading this book, though, I know I have to let it all out. (This review is spoiler-free)

Honestly, I didnt know much of Hoover untiI I saw book recommendations here. I was planning on reading Unspoken but changed my mind upon seeing Hopeless. I really thought it would be just like another love story. Phew. I was wrong. Hopeless is a story im sure won't be forgetting for weeks. A poignant story. Great plot. And great characters. I can relate to every character Hoover created with their choices and decisions made. All the characters are very realistic- anyone could relate to every character.  This is my first Colleen Hoover book so I didn't know what to expect. I didn't even read the synopsis. The title just intrigued me. I grabbed the book. Read. And didn't let go.

I loved the style of writing and the drama. There isn't a single hole in the book. HOPELESS IS FLAWLESS.

Though it failed to make me cry, which really caused by two books so far- Fault in our stars and Before I die, this book surely took out a piece of my sanity. This is not just another read but a lives of different people flashing before my eyes through words. I'm really much glad that it isn't a trilogy or a series since I'm starting to hate series now. I need to wait half a year for the next installment which drives me crazy cause it's taking them forever to publish.

There are certain situations that are quite predictable to me- the thing with Karen and Sky's father. When I was halfway through my reading, I was kinda bored and told myself to get this read done. Then, the climax came and I really really was surprised to the turn of events. I won't say much to this review. But I want you all to grab your copy and share your thoughts with me, with us. This read is almost life-changing as though you are reading a John Green book in New Adult Romance genre.

I am definitely recommending this to readers. And I am a fan of Colleen Hoover from now on. :)

5 stars for HOPELESS.

My Fictional Boyfriends

Zero. Alone. Non-existent.

Perfect words for my love life right now, or ever since. Oh, stop. I don't need your pity. C'mon now. I've gone through that part of my life and it's done. K? :)

STOP THE BLABBER!

Fine. My palms itch to share with you my "book boyfriends" or my fictional crushes for like, forever. You know what I am talking about because all of us, one way or another, do lust for a character in a book. Oh, don't you dare deny it! And with that, I decided to create my list according to my attraction to them.

My list begins with ...

10. Caleb Becker from Leaving Paradise/Return to Paradise

The angst, the swag. Dang! Caleb all the way! A plus factor when Simone wrote the beginning in Caleb's POV. I love reading books with a boy's POV. :) Need I say more?

Oh, and I searched the net and found Colton as the most popular fancast for Caleb!

9. Dylan/ Romeo Montague from Juliet Immortal/Romeo Redeemed

Oh, tell me. Who can resist Romeo's charm? Even if he was the villain in the first book, he totally redeemed himself in the second. The gorgeous voice and his extreme hotness captivated me. *faints I scanned some fancast and all I saw was Leonardo Dicaprio. Oh well. Yeah, he played Romeo in Romeo and Juliet but he's too old now. Older, I mean.

8. Etienne St. Clair from Anna and the French Kiss

The fact that Etienne is not as perfect as the other YA characters, he is way too gorgeous to me! HA! He's realistic and not too dreamy. Stephanie created Etienne based on the real world which made him more lovable  I love him anyway. :)

Tom Sturridge is a popular fancast for Etienne. I can imagine him as Etienne in the big screen.

7. Adam Wilde from If I Stay/Where She Went

I looooooove Adam! Why? Duh! He can sing. He plays the guitar. And the way he loved Mia? Ugh. Sometimes I wish Adam is real. Oh not just sometimes. MOST OF THE EFFIN TIME.

6. William Herondale from The Infernal Devices

The Outcast Dead. Aww. Cassie Clare created a character so forlorn but loved by everyone. I am always a fan of Will. Sorry Jem! Hahaha! But please, let him be with Tessa! Jem is quite weak to me.

Max Irons is the perfect Will!

5. Kellan Kyle from Thoughtless/Effortless

Is there anything to say? I mean, who doesn't fall in love with that guy? Seriously? Can you please tell me? Possessive. Perfect. Radiating hotness.

*eyegasm

4. Four (Tobias Eaton) from Divergent/Insurgent

Don't tell my you don't know him! I call him Four because I prefer it more than his real name. We all have our own preferences, right? Dauntless. Abnegate. He's everything that I ever wanted. Sadly, I couldn't put a face to him because all I can see is Max Irons. I don't want to disappoint myself when the casting news for the movie comes out. Ugh.

3. Perry (Peregrine) from Under the Never Sky

There's just something about Perry that makes my mouth hang open whenever I think of him. His "caveman" characteristic has taken a lot of my sanity. And Perry and Aria's chemistry is beating the hell out of me. Perry is a strong hero. I want more of him!

2. Gideon Cross from Crossfire Series

 *drools *faints *dies

MOVE OVER CHRISTIAN GREY! hahahahahaha (*evil laugh) MAKE WAY FOR GIDEON! I fell in love with him because he's extremely rich, a caveman, and swoon-worthy. I am telling you, HE IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN CHRISTIAN GREY. Sorry, man, that's just how it is. JUST READ THE BOOK AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT I MEAN.

*squee

I found photos tagged with Gideon Cross and torn between these two. Free will is served. Choose between those two or tell me yours. :)

DARK,DANGEROUS AND ALL MINE.

Henry Cavill

Matt Bomer

And to top my list... I'm in love with him for forever.

1. Warner from Shatter Me

When I first read the book- which I read thousand times (just twenty one, actually), I fell in love with Warner immediately. He might appear the bad guy in Shatter Me but while reading it, I imagined the back story and bam! Warner is not what you think he is! I really really really love him. I always get into debacle with my friends, to whom I recommended the book. They loved Adam. Adam is good. But he's too boring to me. Juliet should be with Warner. If she doesn't, well, Warner and I are meant for each other then. :D

Two choices for Warner. :) I don't care who as long as the trilogy ends well. Oh Warner! <3 nbsp="nbsp">

Alex Pettyfer

Hunter Parrish, again?
*breathes
*lives
*smiles
*claps

Well, then, hope you enjoy my blabbering. Haha! If you want to kill me or hug me, you can type something on my comment box below. Promise, I'll take it all. :) So, tell me what you think. Talk. :)

Thanks,

A.
